The Gottsuo Ekiden is a relay race where teams of four runners pass a sash to each other and run through the lush, natural landscape of Tategamori Plateau.

The course consists of four sections, totaling 21.4km. Runners will work together to run the challenging course with an elevation difference of approximately 200m. Some will run with all their might. Others will cheer on their teammates. Some will receive the sash and run to the next section. The sense of accomplishment when the four runners pass the sash and cross the finish line is a special feeling that can only be experienced in an ekiden (long-distance relay race). Experienced ekiden runners are welcome, as are those trying an ekiden for the first time! Anyone 8 years of age or older can participate, so it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, including family, friends, and colleagues.

It doesn't end with just running!

The biggest appeal of the Ark Tategamori "Gozzo" Race is that you can enjoy the fun of running along with the delicious "Gozzo" food that Ark Tategamori offers. We have prepared the following benefits for all participants.

- Restaurant Till's "Gotsuo Ekiden Special Menu" meal ticket
• Souvenir ticket usable for shopping at Ark Tategamori
- Compliments such as pork miso soup and hot egg soup made with Tategamori Kogen pork will be served.

Refreshments will be provided at the relay points and the finish line. You can enjoy a warm meal not only after you've finished running, but also while you wait for your teammates to arrive. The meal will be a special buffet created exclusively for the Gotsuo Ekiden, served at "Restaurant Till's," the first restaurant in the Tohoku region to receive organic certification. We welcome all participants with dishes prepared by chefs who know the farm's products inside and out, and all organic soft drinks.

The grand prize is an astonishing "half a pig"!

The winning team will receive half a pig (equivalent to 25kg) from Tategamori Kogen Pork. This is a magnificent prize unique to the Gottsuo Ekiden, which can be shared among the four members of the team. Awards will also be given to the teams that come in 1st to 3rd place. The real fun of this competition is not only competing for speed, but also enjoying a special day with your teammates.

The 12th Tategamori Gottsuo Marathon will be held on Sunday, February 7th, 2027!

The "Tategamori Gottsuo Marathon" is a friendly and welcoming event that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or running ability. From serious runners aiming for their best times to runners who come along in costumes to liven up the venue, families running hand in hand, and energetic children. In past races, costumed runners have appeared in a variety of outfits, adding excitement to the cheering along the course and filling the venue with smiles. Whether you're seriously challenging yourself to beat your time, running for fun with friends, or participating in your favorite costume, you're more than welcome!

The course takes place on the wintery Tategamori Plateau, offering stunning views of the Ou Mountains. With a maximum length of 11.5km and a maximum elevation difference of approximately 200m, the varied terrain provides a challenging and rewarding run. We offer 11.5km, 5km, and 2.5km races. In addition to general and senior categories, we also have categories for junior high school students, elementary school students and younger, and parent-child races, so everyone from competitive runners to those participating in a marathon for the first time can find a race that suits their goals.

And the Tategamori Gottsuo Marathon doesn't end when you cross the finish line.

After the run, there's a delicious feast waiting for you!

We will be preparing an original gourmet lunch for all participants, featuring dishes that showcase the unique characteristics of each facility at Ecole Tategamori. In addition, we plan to offer a selection of souvenirs from the Tategamori area, a 300 yen shopping voucher usable at each facility, and complimentary pork miso soup and locally produced apple juice. A warm bowl of pork miso soup and a delicious lunch after a hard run will be especially enjoyable. We hope you will fully enjoy not only the fun of running, but also the unique flavors of Tategamori and the warm hospitality.
