I'm currently on a business trip to Brazil as I write this blog.
Brazil's influence in global grain production has been growing year by year in recent years, and I have come here to observe the international situation firsthand.
As you know, Brazil originally had a vast amount of land, but apparently, until about 40 years ago, the central grain-producing region wasn't able to produce grain as much as it does now. Through various efforts to improve the soil, it has now become a major producer of soybeans and corn. I'm overwhelmed by this land that stretches as far as the eye can see to the horizon. The area we're talking about is on a scale of 1,000 hectares, so it's on a completely different level. (wry smile)

From the perspective of food production and national defense, Japan is synonymous with rice production.
With the increasing number of abandoned farmlands due to issues such as an aging workforce and a shortage of successors in agriculture, seeing the overwhelming grain production capacity demonstrated overseas in this way gives us much to think about.

First, when we consider the food we eat, and then the region, country, and the world, we will continue to think about what we can do through our business and what is needed, and move forward with ways in which we can contribute to society as a company.
