I recently had the opportunity to participate in an internship at the farming and livestock department.

Stepping into the chicken coop, I found myself in a place where time seemed to slow down, a stark contrast to the efficiency-driven production environments we usually see. The chickens roamed freely in a free-range environment, resting their wings on sawdust and living naturally alongside their companions.

The sight of each chicken looking calm and peaceful inside the chicken coop, bathed in the morning sun, was truly impressive.

Raised in such an environment are rare, purebred Japanese chickens. They are raised while preserving the lineage of life that has been passed down for many years. And the eggs they lay are fertilized eggs called "Old-fashioned Eggs."

The eggs, gently laid in the nest box, are collected one by one by hand. The newly laid eggs still retain the warmth of the chicken's body heat. Touching that warmth, I was reminded once again that eggs are not manufactured goods, but a precious gift bestowed upon us by living creatures.

The chickens must be healthy. There must be people who create a suitable environment and care for them daily. And their lives must be nurtured within the natural cycle.

The deliciousness of "Traditional Eggs" cannot be fully described by the richness of the yolk or the firmness of the egg white. Each egg embodies the healthy lives of the chickens and the sincere dedication of the people involved in its production.

The simple dishes on the dinner table, like rice with a raw egg on top or rolled omelet, hold a special place behind each bite. Beyond that lies the rich natural environment of Iwate Prefecture and the daily life of a farm that cherishes and nurtures life.

Old-fashioned eggs have a nostalgic and endlessly gentle flavor.

These eggs, nurtured in harmony between nature and people, offer a true sense of richness.
