My name is Hikaru Komiya, and starting this season I have become the team leader at Hanaizumi Farm in the Pig Farming Division.
It's been six years since I first wrote a blog about my dream of talking to pigs when I joined the company. I started this term wondering why I was the team leader, and now a year has passed.
I tried to stay calm and do things the same as before, so I think I was just busy with my daily work as one of the players, and nothing had changed in front of the pigs.
On the other hand, in front of other people, I was asked to say a few words during morning and closing meetings when the deputy farm manager was not present, and I had more time to talk with people outside the farm, so I had many opportunities to really feel like a team leader.
If I were to come up with my own reasons for being chosen as a team leader, I think it would be my ability to communicate and take action when I'm switched on. However, this is still only true when I'm "switched on," even though it's been almost a year since I took up the position. For better or worse, I think my juniors understand this very well. As the end of the fiscal year approaches, I'm reflecting on the fact that I often caused confusion for those around me because I was a moody leader.
Next year, I aim to be someone who can approach work with a consistent level of motivation, no matter what position or environment I'm in. To achieve this, I want to set clear short-term goals for my work. I'll also be conscious of making the most of my holidays this year (with the goal of traveling abroad)!!
