[Press Release] Obtained certification as a production process manager for organic processed foods

We prepare the soil with organic fertilizers and mill the organic JAS-certified wheat that we cultivate ourselves.

We have launched "semi-dried udon" noodles made with organic wheat flour produced and milled in-house.

Ark Co., Ltd. (Oumi, Fujisawa-cho, Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture; Representative Director: Shin'ei Hashimoto; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has obtained certification as a "Production Process Manager for Organic Processed Foods." The Company has long been engaged in soil preparation using organic fertilizers and the production of organically grown JAS-certified wheat, and has now also obtained organic certification for its own flour milling and processing operations.

Organic wheat accounts for only about 0.1% of domestically harvested wheat in Japan, and businesses that not only handle the entire process of organic wheat production but also mill organically certified flour themselves and manufacture products are rare nationwide. We are pleased to announce the launch of "Tategamori Kogen Organic Wheat Flour Semi-Dried Udon Noodles," a product that embodies this approach.

  • Regarding "Production Process Manager for Organic Processed Foods"

This refers to businesses (food manufacturers, processors, etc.) that manage and record all processes from raw material acceptance to manufacturing, storage, and shipment, in accordance with the Organic JAS standards. Auditing and certification by a third-party certification body (such as OCO or JONA) are mandatory, and consistent management from raw material acceptance to product shipment is required.

  • About "Organic JAS"

This is a national standard established by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for organic foods (foods produced using natural methods without relying on chemical substances such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers). Registered certification bodies inspect whether production conforms to the Organic JAS standards, and only certified businesses are allowed to affix the Organic JAS mark. It is illegal to use names such as "organic" or similar misleading labels on agricultural products, livestock products, or processed foods that do not have the Organic JAS mark.
