I am in charge of transporting 4-ton trucks at Kurokinosawa Farm. I drive a truck every day, but the one thing I always keep in mind is "safety first." I try not to forget that.
To be honest, the road to the farm is quite difficult; it's narrow and there aren't many places where cars can pass each other. When we see an oncoming vehicle in the distance, we don't try to go ahead, but rather wait until we can pass each other. If we wait a little while, both sides can pass safely, and I think this kind of mutual yielding is the best way to prevent accidents.
In winter, driving on snowy roads requires even more care. You need to be especially careful when going downhill, and don't use the exhaust brake because it can lock the tires. I try to drive while slowly slowing down using the foot brake. I also slow down early before curves. I think it's important not to panic.
On snowy roads, even a slight lack of caution can cause the situation to change dramatically. That's why I always pay close attention to my surroundings and drive with a sense of ease.
I will continue to take care when driving every day, without rushing or pushing myself too hard, and will continue to put safety first when behind the wheel!
